Wedding & Portrait Photographer Amanda Howse bio picture
  • About Amanda

While studying to become an actor at Emerson College, Amanda received a gift that would change her life forever: her grandfather’s old manual Olympus 35mm camera. Falling in love with the black and white image, Amanda became inspired to study photography and traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico for her first photography workshop. Soon she was pursuing her second BA from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA. While studying Portraiture, she was awarded a two-month internship with a well-known portrait and wedding photographer in WA state. She was instantly hooked, and moved to the Seattle area three years later to pursue a career as a wedding photographer. Today, Amanda has finished her eighth wedding season as a photographer and shows no sign of stopping. Amanda loves every aspect of covering weddings, from the excitement and anticipation of capturing the newly-engaged couple, to the behind-the-scenes action before the ceremony, to those unforgettable moments when two people at last say “I do.” Amanda considers it an honor to be invited to spend the entire day doing what makes her happy: capturing images of a couple on the happiest day of their lives. Amanda loves getting to know the wedding party, and she has a knack for creating an atmosphere so relaxed and comfortable that most people forget they are even having their photos taken. The art of photography is constantly evolving, and Amanda is devoted to learning all the latest tricks of the photographer’s trade, attending workshops and classes yearly, maintaining membership in numerous photography guilds, and gathering inspiration from blogs, magazines, and galleries. She brings all of this knowledge and inspiration to every sitting, every wedding, and every opportunity she finds to capture the beauty of life on film. There’s truly nothing else she’d rather do.

07-31-09 | Breanne & Sean | Hidden Meadows, Snohomish

]Breanne & Sean tied the knot at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish. What a beautiful place and day it was! The day began a little rocky as the DJ had to go to the ER with kidney stones, but thanks to the awesome staff at Events With Integrity, we had another one on the way! Breanne looked amazing!!! The green of the bridesmaids dresses was perfect, and I loved how they surprised her with those fun sunglasses. Check out the groomsman in the background during that shot. They are huge Seahawks fans, so there were hints of football stuff everywhere: from the table names, to their toasting glasses, and more! Go Seahawks!

07-18-09 | Ashley & Bobby | Lacey Community Center

The day began at the Good Shepherd Luthern Church in Tacoma. Ashley did not want to see Bobby beforehand, so we took turns taking them each out for photos. After a great ceremony, we headed over to the Lacey Community Center for some awesome magic hour photos. The light was amazing. It turns out the bride’s father was from Hawaii too! What a small world.

Get Hitched Give Hope

Last year I came across an awesome organization, brought to Seattle by some amazing gals. My husband and I went to their first auction, and had a great time! We had our photo taken at the photobooth, drank some good wine, met some great photographers and people in the wedding industry I had yet to meet in person, and earned money to help women with breast cancer.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, and has been battling cancer ever since. My mother-in-law was also diagnosed with breast cancer around the holidays last year, so this cause hits close to home.
This year’s event with take place at the Arctic Club again, on Thursday October 29, 2009 in Seattle. Please join this great cause by donating, attending, inviting friends, and passing the word on.
